A few months ago I got to do something incredibly healing— I recorded my first audiobook! After nearly a year in recovery from my spinal injury (more later), I’m glad to bring this little piece of me to you. Thank you as always for the love and support❤️

On a day for the history books, @TheAmandaGorman delivered a poem that more than met the moment. Young people like her are proof that "there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it; if only we're brave enough to be it."
THIS! Congratulations to @TheAmandaGorman for being amazing all around! As we say in Sudan, rafa'ti ruwasna fouq- You lifted our heads up high! So proud to have witnessed you😊 A historic day-today we celebrate, poetry, no Muslim Ban, a new day + more, and tomorrow, we keep on❤️

I have never been prouder to see another young woman rise! Brava Brava, @TheAmandaGorman! Maya Angelou is cheering—and so am I.
Thank you! I would be nowhere without the women whose footsteps I dance in. While reciting my poem, I wore a ring with a caged bird—a gift from @Oprah for the occasion , to symbolize Maya Angelou, a previous inaugural poet. Here’s to the women who have climbed my hills before.
I wrote this to draw attention to the needs of our most vulnerable people this season. I hope you’ll listen to my poem and 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙙 this winter. Please donate to @refugees if you can, every bit helps ❤️

please “celebrate with me that everyday something has tried to kill me and has failed”
Love you my heart, you're the best sister anyone could ask for ❤️ Alhamdulillah, thank you for being the greatest joy in my life ever since mama & baba brought you home from the hospital way back when😆 you're the epitome of black joy for me Fofo #celebrate #love #family #triumph
The future of Sudan is not independent of Darfur's future.

Familiarize yourself with Darfur, a region the size of France with an approximate population greater than that of NYC, a region that existed well before the Sudan we know formed, who've been raising their voices since before I was born. Please support my people in this.
Can you imagine what it feels like to struggle even after the revolution to reverse the effects of genocide, colonization, and erasure? The hopeful part is this, we will not do it alone this time #kabkabiya #eyesonnertiti #eyesondarfur #darfur
Every one of these cities and more were stops on the walk and civilian peace talks and it hurts to see the same grievances repeated 3 years later. In fact the rights people are asking for were taken away gradually & then drastically leading up to and during the genocide in Darfur

Big time Kabkabiya, Darfur. Back in the days, when the horn shown in the video was played, no one would stay at home. Picking arms was never a goal for the Darfuris, it was a necessity. I hope it continues this way.

This is beautiful. It's been an emotional week or so, I'm hopeful yet so conflicted #Kabkabiya, #Nertiti we hear you we see you, Nyala, Al Fashir, Al Geniena, I see you too ❤️ ️ These are not simply protests, they're an attempt to reverse the effects of genocide

the uprising in sudan did not start last year, or the year before, or the year before. it also did not end last year, and won’t end this year, and can’t end any year until the life and livelihood of every sudani is valued and protected equally. #EyesOnNertiti #اعتصام_نيرتتي
Thank you @alisonflood and the @guardian for this incredible article. We had tea for a couple of hours and she managed to center the narratives that combat oppression beautifully, shout out my book & @Refugees It means so much to be heard! #SistersEntrance
