It’s Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Let’s never forget that it is possible for a few people to inflict insane levels of pain and destruction, if they can manipulate careless citizens to give them more power & control.
The only thing we cannot tolerate is intolerance itself.

Anyone else feeling a little whiplash turning on the news and seeing the US looking like a first world country again so suddenly? 😆
A heartbreaking letter on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and a poignant reminder of the horrors that humans are sometimes capable of inflicting on others.
Thanks to the always amazing @LettersOfNote

#HappyMartinLutherKingJrDay
This year, let’s begin to honor Dr Martin Luther King Jr. by not taking his words and ideas out of context.
As white people we have inherited the curse of racism built into the very fabric of society, & it’s up to us to make the changes - to the systems, our minds & our hearts.

As you honor my father today, please honor my mother, as well. She was the architect of the King Legacy and founder of @TheKingCenter, which she founded less than three months after Daddy died. Without #CorettaScottKing, there would be no #MLKDay. #MLK #BelovedCommunity
A couple of thoughts here.
It’s gonna be ok you guys, don’t let them fool you into thinking we need to be afraid of them. Just stay away from the obvious danger zones. Stay home if you can anyway, cause you know... covid 😷

Knowing that his successor opposes the death penalty, Donald Trump has rushed to execute as many people as possible before the transition. He has executed more individuals in weeks than had been federally executed in more than 60 years. Absolutely shameful. End the death penalty.
Horribly, shamefully unethical.

There was a strain of violent Christian nationalism present at the Capitol riots -- and some white evangelical leaders are saying the church has a responsibility to speak up.

.@PramilaJayapal was in the House gallery Wednesday afternoon because Covid-19 restrictions meant that only so many members of Congress could be on the House floor at one time. She talks about what happened next in today's episode of Deconstructed /1
I will not stop talking about how I was ready to fight for my life.
I will not stop talking about hearing the insurrectionists on the other side of the door.
I will not stop talking about being forced into a superspreader event.
Hold EVERYONE involved fully accountable.

In a way, we always knew America would end like this: with an infomercial pillow salesman leading a military junta supported by a legion of extremists who were radicalized by anime imageboards.

NEW: Stop the Steal drew heavily on a 3-million-member Facebook network of anti-lockdown and anti-mask groups. Over 150 of those groups are still active, and many are openly calling for violence in the coming days.

Powerful photos of National Guard troops stationed in Capitol Building by @erinschaff & @ESCochrane of @nytimes. Some rest under plaque commemorating Union troops quartered in Capitol after Lincoln’s call for volunteers to fight Confederate insurrectionists, dated April 15, 1861.
Wow.
